Cherry Blossom Bliss Out

CHerry blossom blissoutFinally it’s Fruhling (Spring) and it’s cherry blossom time yet again! Heerstrasse in Bonn, Germany draws quite the crowd to it’s normally quaint but hip section Allstadt. By hip, I only mean there’s actually some faint resemblance to a cool mix of cafes, bars, and younger scene in Bonn. This is of course high touristed flocking time when these blossoms come out, so be prepared. It’s best to stroll and people watch with an Eis  in hand, of course. Head to Eislabor first and then take in the all the pink petals of delight.

Desert Sojourn

West Tucson View

Early Spring blooms

Escape to the desert this February was very much-needed  to replenish the lost sun and open skies of my desert homeland and mentality. Tucson is a relentless hot place in the summer but a serene zen zone in the winter and spring months. The desert Southwest has those unique sounds and scents that I associate with growing up there and always outside exploring.

Coming back this year for a visit, I relished  in the calm that is so opposite from where we live now in a land of orderliness, bountiful floral manicured yards, uniform architecture. Sometimes I feel like Germany has its own uniformed mental architecture…It was great to be back and  see family and friends I miss so much, and eat as much Mexican food as possible.  This recent trip has given me a remarkable sense of gratitude for not only my desert home but all the other places I’ve lived and ventured though perhaps not really appreciated fully. Especially Germany now, with all its frustrating elements, there  lies in it these magical landscapes of nature and certain fairytale-esque inspirations I find. There are truly so many wanderings and pretty things to find…being open to them is the elemental key.
